Gail’s Expertise
I have been evolving imaginative painting, printing and resist methods using traditional, non-traditional, and unconventional materials for over 30 years. Passing these specialist tips and tricks on to my students while working together in the studio has been a joy. Now we are offering this course online! The result of the course is to produce an incredible compendium of unique colors, patterns, textures and techniques in fabric samples and your own photos. Students may decide to use these fabrics as visual reminders of the process or for creating other artwork.

Fabrics
Fabric type and quality play a large part in the varied visual effects that can be accomplished. Each fabric has a characteristic feature of its own. Four unique fabrics will be recommended but you can add more and play with others if you like. I will be demonstrating and talking about several fabric types. I will focus on the painted fabric from the method of paint application to the feel (hand) of the fabric after it is painted to how fabric is dried and color fixed.
After the class, fabrics will be able to be used in any sewing, quilting, embroidery, or other artistic project!
