In this video, Gail Harker interviews Iris Bell, a textile art student who recently completed Level 3: Advanced Studies in Experimental Stitch at the Gail Harker Center for Creative Arts.
Iris explains how she develops ideas and stitching techniques for a handmade embroidered book and a large-scale three-dimensional butterfly hanging. A touch of real-life drama unfolds when Iris’s young granddaughter visits and quietly snips off part of the nearly finished butterfly tail. The butterfly hanging will be showing in Canada this year with The Surface Design Association.
